Experiential outdoor education
A lesson for life...
Experiential outdoor education picks up where schools must often stop due to time and staff constraints: at the self (personal) competence and social competence of pupils.
Experiential outdoor education creates learning space. In experiential outdoor education, trainers create situations that pose personal and social challenges for pupils or that can only be mastered by cooperative behaviour: Games and trust exercises, climbing and belaying, construction projects, problem solving tasks, rallies, adventure games or a gala dinner planned and prepared together. Through the activities and their assessment and reflection, we promote and enhance the individual action competence of the pupils in a holistic manner. Holistic means the promotion of all three aspects of self (personal) competence, social competence and subject-matter competence that are based on our own differentiated competence model , infusing these terms with meaning and content.
Experiential outdoor education is effective. Its success is confirmed by the huge amount of positive feedback by teachers and pupils that have been on one of our experiential education outings. When remembering your own class trips or excursions as either a pupil or a tutor, you might be able to confirm that time spent together is time well spent and will always have an impact – in particular when it is experienced in such a conscious and controlled manner as during our projects. Last but not least its success is confirmed by scientific studies. Our work is monitored by such renowned scientists as Prof. Dr. Michael Jagenlauf and Prof. Dr. Werner Michl who are acting as advisory council.
