Internships abroad within the Educo International Alliance
Since 2004 we are offering interested parties the opportunity to complete the so-called "International Internship" with our Educo partners in Bulgaria, Canada, the US and South Africa. This is usually designed for a duration of 4 to 8 weeks.
Due to in some parts fairly diverging and specialised approaches of the partner countries, the focus is placed on getting to know other and new areas of experiential education work. Not only can the know-how already obtained from an internship at Erlebnistage be tested for transferability, it will also be enhanced by new experiences. Once the internship abroad is completed and a presentation has been held at one of the Erlebnistage sites and a report has been written Educo and Erlebnistage will issue a certificate for the attendance of the "International Internship Program" of the Educo International Alliance.
- "Educo Bulgaria" is about hiking through the mountain landscape with backpack and tent in a foreign culture and language, learning and experiencing new things in very basic conditions. You will experience Bulgarian culture “face to face”, meet inquisitive children and youths that often have a gift for languages and love to show us their country.
- With "Educo Canada" you will learn about life and work of our partner up in Canada’s high north without electricity and running water: together with school classes, boy or girl groups, in the low or high ropes course, hiking in the “Cascades” or paddling through a glacier lake. Also included is project work in the camp, assisting with the courses, immersing yourself into the Educo culture.
- With "Educo Africa" you will meet an extremely foreign culture with its unique social, historic and political reality. Here the work focuses on the experiential wilderness therapy,the programs are mostly conducted with "Youth at Risk".
- In the US at "Educo Colorado" depending on the internship duration, you will be integrated both into the actual course in the Rocky Mountains and its organisational and administrative tasks. The short and long term projects consist of school projects, boy and girl groups, work with homeless people and students.
The stay within the framework of an internship abroad is usually free, the travel expenses into the host country will be carried by the intern.
Any internship abroad with one of our Educo partners is subject to the completion of an internship of min. 13 weeks at one of the Erlebnistage sites. Our partner countries require a good command of English and a detailed application written in English including references and certificates.
