Learning about experiential outdoor education.
You feel like getting an inside view about work at Erlebnistage and learn something about experiential outdoor education? You like being in nature and are interested to learn and instruct activities such as climbing, canoeing, intitiatives and many more? You see yourself autonomously planning and carrying out week courses for school classes together with other members of our team?

We offer you the opportunity to complete a university-recognised internship of min. 13 weeks up to one year at one of the Erlebnistage sites. We would like to invite you for a trial week. This is a precondition for the internship and will cost you € 40.00 for accommodation and meals. During this week you will be a member of a course team and get an overall impression about the work in our facility.
Furthermore you will be given the opportunity to actively participate in the planning, implementation and wrap-up of a week long experiential outdoor education course. You will also be able to experience our activities by practically trying them out as a participant. During this week we will get to know each other, and once your trial week is completed, a joint decision is made regarding a future collaboration.
What does an internship with Erlebnistage look like?
At the onset of your internship you will attend two introductory basic courses together with other new team members. Besides the introduction into the method of how Erlebnistage courses are conducted, you will learn the fundamentals and background of experiential education and will practice course-relevant elements. Furthermore, all specific sport activities, in particular rope actions of the relevant site will be taught and trained in depth. At the site Lake Schwerin there will be an additional training in the field of water activities. After the first practical experiences, these two basic courses will be supplemented by a 3 day intensification program.
Additionally, Erlebnistage offers some 20 seminars per year focusing on environmental and sports education, scientific basics of experiential education, as well as interactions and reflexions. It is also possible to attend other training sessions with acknowledged experiential education trainers.
Throughout the course of your internship, you will be supported by personal instruction and guidance from experienced trainers with a higher diploma in social pedagogy in the form of e.g. course evaluations, observations and mentoring conversations and instructional, supervisory meetings.
You will commit to providing your work for the duration of your internship, for which you will receive a monthly internship remuneration of approx. 175.00 €. The attendance of all training events is free of charge.
Besides the trial period, there are other compulsory preconditions: Proof of first aid course, proof of basic knowledge in climbing, life saver certificate in silver (at Lake Schwerin).
From an internship duration of min. 20 weeks upwards, there is the option of attending the “Practical Training in Experiential Education” PEP (Praxisausbildung Erlebnispädagogik) within your internship. When passed successfully, a certificate with the title “Experiential Educator with the Focus on Class and Group Outings” will be issued.
