Erlebnistage | GFE

Who we are

Responsible body for Erlebnistage is the Gesellschaft zur Förderung der Erlebnispädagogik e. V. | GFE (Society for the Promotion of Experiential Education). Since being established in 1986, GFE is a free and non-profit organiser of youth work and adult education and officially recognised as deserving special support. Our experiential educational work is based on the principles of the New Education movement according to Kurt Hahn and John Dewey and guided by a modified Outward Bound approach. Our central goal is developing the personality. Physical activity and playing are vital elements on the route to achieving this goal. Nature is our preferred learning and experiencing space.

Germany’s biggest non-commercial organiser for school classes with roughly 1000 week courses per year.

A practice-focused training facility for university and college students and graduates of educational study and training courses and young people in the process of looking at various career options.

A circle of committed people of different age groups and social backgrounds promoting the idea of experiential outdoor education at conventions and education trade shows ("erleben und lernen" in Augsburg, "Didacta" in Stuttgart and Hannover), through presentations in schools, companies and universities, through advanced teacher training courses, etc...

A learning organisation constantly developing further through innovation and creativity, whose thinking and actions are guided by a central idea and core values.

An educational workplace monitoring, assessing and certifying the training courses in collaboration with an Advisory Council. More than 100 thesis papers have already been initiated, supported and filed.

Member of regional and international bodies and institutions pursuing similar goals. As such, we are part of "Educo International Alliance" offering shared projects for the promotion of intercultural learning.
